Over the following year, the band expanded by adding a 2nd guitarist, Joel. The four members recorded their first e.p. "Holding on to what's killing you" w/ Jeremy Tapperro (Attention:, The Stereo, The Gloria Record). In the midst of recording, Luke joined on bass and Jeff just went solely to the microphone.
Not too long after the release of the e.p., The band parted ways with Jeff and Luke. Taking some time off, they regained composure and a different sound ensued with Danny as the new frontman and Ryan taking over bass duties.
With the re-vamped line-up, Small Towns ditched a lot of the hardcore overtones that they were tired of for a new, fresh batch of intricate, melodic songs. The new material was more satisfying, as it was more challenging to write & perform and it encompassed a wider range of the individual band members' influences.
This 5-piece St. Paul, MN based band has shared the stage with such established acts as Motion City Soundtrack, Hey Mercedes, Cursive & Onelinedrawing.
