Cissy makes sweet chunks of post-funk chocolate! Polyrhythmic, melodic drums! Angular guitar with BIG hooks! Soulful pop from Hammond B4 keys! Dirty Afrobeat bass hooks all up in you! Claves and cowbells bring the tok, tok, klak klak! Cissy is Katie Moore, Mathew Dixon, Gavin Montgomery and Matt Woodward.
Summer in Leeds, 2006....an idea is born, out of a love for Classic Funk, Afrobeat, Krautrock and the NY No Wave and Punk-Funk movements of the 1970s. That idea became a band called Cissy. Party-time call and response is their favourite game and now they aim to make it yours!
Cissy includes people who also currently play, or have played, in The Dragon Rapide, Tigers!, The Lapse, Origami, Hey Little Cobra!, Factotum and Beards. Sometime in Summer 2006 CISSY began writing songs in a basement room in Leeds 6 England. The weather was hot. The songs are hotter. Cissy has played with some other ace bands, such as James Chance et Les Contortions, Cowtown, Origami, 7 Hertz, The Violets, Experimental Dental School
