Bad Brains

Whilst Minor Threat defined and typified the DC hardcore sound, they clearly learnt their kick-snare-kick-snare-kick-snare-kick-snare-kick-tricks from their mentors and precursors, Bad Brains. Originally a jazz fusion band, they were inspired by the aggression of the Sex Pistols to turn their formidable technical skills to awesome blasts of extremified but positive punk, which they'd intersperse with blissful reggae numbers. They now tour under the name Soul Brains.
