Bio
[Edit this profile]When Radiohead did a musical U-turn with Kid A and Amnesiac, no-one was a greater influence than electronica pioneer and founding father Aphex Twin. The Twin, or Richard D James to his pals, has been breaking boundaries and blurring preconceptions of dance music from ambient to drum 'n' bass since the 1980s.
There are too many classic albums to mention - 'Selected Ambient Works '85-'92' (1992), 'Selected Ambient Works II' (1994) and 'Richard D. James Album' (1996) all set the standard. Since then, modern masterpieces such as the Top 20 bothering single 'Windowlicker', plus the child-scaring 'Come To Daddy' EP and most recent album 'Drukqs' (2001) have all contributed to his transformation into a huge underground cult hero.
With a major hand in Rephlex Records, plus past and present work under the guises of Caustic Window, Polygon Window and AFX, the story of Richard D James could (and probably should) fill a book. A living legend.
